Like any other province in Turkey, agriculture is an indispensable economic factor for Kahramanmaraş. Fertile lands in Kahramanmaraş play a major role, which enables the cultivation of various products, such as grains, fruits and vegetables. The province can create economic value, not only with the production of wheat, barley, rice, sugar beets and cotton, but also with the production of different types of fruit, particularly grapes being in the lead. However, despite its broad range of agricultural products, Kahramanmaraş is known because of the reputed Maraş red pepper. The fame of Kahramanmaraş’s red pepper stems from its unique taste and aroma.
