Kahramanmaraş carried out a rapid rise in industrialization process began in 1980s with investments in private sector. Today, the city is one of the major production bases of Turkey with its approximately 450 industrial plants, is among the first 15 city in industrial production.
224 of operating industrial facilities in the city are for textile and apparel industry, 96 food industry, 14 for paper and packaging industry, 80 for steel kitchenware, 11 for construction and construction elements and 2 for petrochemical industry located mainly on through the intercity roads which connect the city to other three metropolitan cities (Adana, Gaziantep & Mersin) in the region.

It is remarkable that 98% of the products, which Kahramanmaraş markets to 80 countries, consist of industrial products. Kahramanmaraş contributes national economy with its 1.5 billion USD business volume and also creates employment for young people. (28.535 people are employed)

In 2009 a globally based economical crises occurred but Kahramanmaraş was quite successful. Exports from the city did not affected from crisis and increased by %11 when compared to 2008 and reached to 438.5 million USD. In addition, companies started exporting to various new markets including Brazil and Middle East countries.
